Pelco enriches VideoXpert VMS
Global leaders in video surveillance, Pelco by Schneider Electric recently introduced VideoXpert (VX) 3.1, a major release update to its performance-oriented video management system (VMS) software. User Experience (UX) enhancements will improve responsiveness, shorten investigations, and provide greater location insights for organizations of all sizes with multiple mapping capabilities. System availability features now allow for hitless dynamic cluster (system) expansion with zero downtime.
Additionally, VX 3.1 expands its compliance with U.S. Government Cybersecurity NIST/Risk Management Framework (RMF) process requirements, Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 encryption support as well as incorporates several other cybersecurity related capabilities.
“VideoXpert VMS functionality continues to evolve at a rapid pace, delivering what customers care most about: intuitive features, mission-critical availability, and responsiveness as well as providing day-to-day secure and trusted system operation that can scale with them as their deployments grow,” said Todd Dunning, Pelco’s Senior Product Line Manager. “With this latest version, we unified and incorporated many new features across VideoXpert Pro and Enterprise editions that work with Pelco’s broad camera portfolio as well as third-party cameras, including those supporting ONVIF.”
Version 3.1 adds several new features including a mobile/thin (web) client VxPortal allowing users to see smoother video with faster frame rate delivery and the ability to see every moment of an incident. System administrators can now more easily import maps and floorplans using PNG and JPEG image files. Additionally, administrators can add doors (access control icons) to all maps; operators will see door status (open, closed, forced, or fault) and be able to lock and unlock doors from within VideoXpert’s VxMaps module allowing for quicker responses.
VideoXpert is architected for the most-demanding customers where system uptime (availability) is key for mission-critical deployments. And, for end-to-end Pelco supported deployments, version 3.1 also supports Pelco’s new high-resolution GFC Professional 4K camera including viewing, playback, and export of H.265 compressed video streams.
Pelco has enhanced VX’s cybersecurity capabilities to include support for FIPS 140-2 compliant encryption, and expands support for the NIST-defined RMF, making it easier for government entities, including contractors, to document how a system stores, processes, and transmits government information.
These enhancements make VX 3.1 ideal for organizations in sectors like government, commercial, transportation, education, hospitality, gaming, healthcare, and petrochemical. Industries like these depend upon maximum VMS uptime, enhanced interoperability, and a highly collaborative user interface.
